Curriculum
Our curriculum lies at the heart of everything we do. It is carefully designed to inspire curiosity, nurture a love of learning, and equip every child with the knowledge, skills and confidence they need to succeed both now and in the future.
We believe that every child deserves a rich and engaging educational experience. Our curriculum is broad, balanced and ambitious, ensuring that all pupils—regardless of their starting point—have access to high-quality learning opportunities. It is rooted in clear progression, allowing children to build on prior knowledge and deepen their understanding over time.
To support high-quality teaching and consistency across the school, we use a range of well-established schemes and approaches. Our foundation subjects—including Science, PSHE, Art, DT, Geography and History—are supported through Kapow Primary, ensuring clear progression and engaging, knowledge-rich content. Mathematics is driven by White Rose Maths and underpinned by a mastery approach, enabling pupils to develop fluency, reasoning and problem-solving skills.
We follow the Bedfordshire Agreed Syllabus for Religious Education, while Music is delivered through the Charanga scheme, and Physical Education is supported by the Cambridgeshire PE scheme. Early reading is a key priority, and we use the Little Wandle Letters and Sounds Revised programme to provide a structured and systematic approach to phonics.
In addition to classroom learning, every class benefits from a dedicated weekly Forest School session. These outdoor learning experiences provide valuable opportunities for children to develop independence, resilience and teamwork, while fostering a strong connection with the natural environment.
We place great importance on working in partnership with parents and carers. Towards the end of the academic year, we look forward to inviting families into school to see how we teach early phonics and support children in developing their reading skills.
At our school, learning goes beyond the classroom. We aim to develop the whole child by promoting creativity, resilience, independence and respect for others. Through a combination of academic excellence and personal development, we prepare our pupils to become thoughtful, responsible and active members of their community.
We regularly review and refine our curriculum to ensure it remains relevant, inclusive and responsive to the needs of our learners. By working in partnership with families and the wider community, we create a supportive environment where every child can thrive.
We are proud of the curriculum we offer and the opportunities it provides for our children to grow, achieve and flourish.
