WOW what a thrilling week we have had!

In Literacy, the traditional tale was “The Princess and the Pea”.

After reading the story, we watched our teacher make Pea Soup in our classroom! We were then able to write the recipe instructions and equipment used based on what we had seen. After lunch we tasted the Pea Soup, it was green and yummy.

An alternative story, “The Princess and the Peas” was about a princess who said she didn’t like peas and spent a day in a palace learning what princesses do – wave, shake hands, smile and found out that the perfect food for a princess was cabbage – yes you’ve guessed right, we made and tasted cabbage stew! Another healthy recipe that we loved eating.

Our task was to write letters using adjectives and verbs describing the kinds of activities that we would do if we stayed in the Palace as a Princess or a Prince, such as having a huge swimming pool in the room and oodles of closet space full of fancy clothes and sparkling shoes.

We enjoyed the scientific investigations on objects around our school. We discovered that the fences were made out of wood, the trim trail bridge was made with metal and the windows contained glass. We talked about how these properties were suitable for the different objects and how unsuitable windows would be if they were made out of wood as you wouldn’t be able to see through.

Our Art challenge this week was to create our own repeating pattern using different shapes on a contrasting background of black and white in the style of pop art using bright colours of paint.
