Thurleigh Primary School & Nursery

Friday 17th September

This week in Willows we had a fab Monday, enjoying an all day forest school session as our ‘Sparkling Start’ for our first topic, ‘Where Our Trainers Take Us’.

We are lucky enough to have a Forest School ranger in our classroom, so in the morning we put on our wellies and headed outside. We played our favourite game, 123, Where are you? Which is a lot like hide and seek, which got us moving and thinking about different places to hide. We then played a game of colour bingo where we had to find different things around the woods and match them to coloured cards we had. After that we split into groups to get creative and used our team building skills to create a piece of natural art. It was great that we were able to show one of the school values, ‘working together’ by communicating and helping each other to achieve some lovely work. We had an owl, a rabbit, a tree, a person and hedgehog, all made from things we found in the woods.

After lunch, we had a story with Mrs Beard called ‘The Bog Baby’ about children who found a creature in a pond in some woodland. We were then given some clay and set off into the woods again to make our very own ‘Bog Baby’ which were all amazing! We were lucky enough to take them home.
