Thurleigh Primary School & Nursery

Friday 22nd April 2022

We have had a fantastic, and extremely busy, first few days back after Easter. What a great way to start off the new term though!

On Wednesday, we introduced a new pupil to our class. His name is Arthur and we are already loving having him in Chestnut Class with us. We also enjoyed hearing all about each other's Easter news, we all had lots of exciting things to share from our time off. We spent time recapping some of our Maths and Grammar learning from before Easter, and we also started our new Science unit which is all about forces and magnets. We created videos to teach children in KS1 about what a force is and the two types of forces: push and pull. We also had a lovely forest school session in the sunshine, celebrating Earth Day!

On Thursday, we had a 'Fashion Day' to kick start our new topic, Dress to Impress. We came to school dressed in our favourite, most fashionable clothes and took to the runway as fashion models. We all voted for the best dressed boys and girls. These awards went to Mia, Alanah, Max and Laylan, who all looked super stylish, fantastically fashionable and chic. After this, we imagined we were fashion journalists and we reported on the fashion show, writing reports for Thurleigh's Fashion Magazine. We learnt all about the key features of a report and enjoyed creating our own. Finally, we made tie-dye t-shirts, which we are all looking forward to taking to wear on our residential trip, which is coming up very soon!

On Friday, we also had our Level 1 Bike Ability Training. We enjoyed learning new skills to help us ride our bikes properly and safely. With Miss Calvert, we also worked in groups, using our ICT to make digital literacy instructions to teach people how to tie dye a T-Shirt.

What a super start to summer term! We have so many exciting things coming up and LOTS to look forward to.
