Happy New Year Everyone!
We have had a great first week back to school this week and we are all really excited about our new topic which is ‘Roald Dahl: From Snozcumbers to Perfect Potions.’
In Topic this week, we researched the life of Roald Dahl and created biographies all about his work and life. We enjoyed learning about the wonderful author who is behind some of our favourite stories and found out lots of interesting facts about his life. The children’s biographies look fantastic and are very informative!
In English, we have started a new writing unit which is based around the story of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. We have been looking at Roald Dahl’s writing style and learning to use some of his techniques in our own writing. This week we have been learning to describe characters from the story and the setting of the chocolate factory. We have really enjoyed this and composed some great pieces of writing.
In Maths, we have been revisiting our written methods for multiplication and division. The children have worked really hard and we are all starting to grasp these methods.
We also had our sparkling start this week. The children came into school with their golden tickets, dressed in their favourite clothes, ready to visit ‘The Chocolate Factory’. They met Willy Wonka and tried some of his newest, most delicious chocolates and sweets. They also helped Willy Wonka by designing a sweet or chocolate for him to start making! We had lots of fun and definitely enjoyed the tasting experience!
What a great way to start the new year!
