Friday 3rd December 2021

We have had a really busy week in Chestnut Class again this week!

We have been working hard in Maths again this week, revisiting our written method for column subtraction. Most of us are now able to use the compact version of this method and we are also much more confident with exchanging now. The children have been enjoying challenging themselves in Maths this week, choosing their own independent challenge and applying their understanding of column subtraction to answer questions involving problem solving and reasoning. I love how hard working and resilient they are!

This week we have also started a new writing unit called “So good to me”. We are following a video of a young girl who has lost something special and we are doing writing tasks alongside the video! This week we have been focusing on how we can improve our descriptions of characters, settings and action using our different word classes. We have been choosing our writing challenges and it is great to see lots of the children 'going for gold'!

This week, we have also been working really hard on our Christmas Nativity. We have enjoyed rehearsing in the church with Oak, Willow and Ash Class. We have been busy learning our lines, preparing our props and costumes and practising our singing and dancing ready for our performances next week. We cannot wait to come together to perform for our families!
