Friday 12th November 2021

Happy Friday everyone!

We have had another busy week in Chestnut class this week!

On Monday, we had a really fun Topic lesson, creating our own episodes for an imaginary TV show called “Extreme Earth”. We pretended to be Volcanologists, teaching viewers all about Volcanoes and how they are formed. We worked in pairs and showed lots of the school values. We had lots of fun performing and filming our TV shows at the end of the lesson!

We have also enjoyed forest school again this week. The children are enjoying being able to choose their own activities to do in the forest this half term!

This week, we have also been thinking and learning about Remembrance Day and why this is so important. We had an assembly at the church, and in class we have been learning about how people gave up their lives to fight for and protect our country. We have had some really thoughtful discussions about this as we have remembered those that fought for our country.

This week was also really exciting as we got to vote for our new Head Boy and Head Girl. We enjoyed listening to the Year 6’s speeches and voting for who we thought would be best for the roles. We are really happy for Gino and Tayla and think that they will do a great job as our new Head Boy and Girl! We are also excited to work with our new house captains this year!

We also chose our school council representatives for Chestnut Class this week. We spoke about the qualities that make a good school councillor and then all nominated a child from each year group that we thought would be good a representative for our class. We then chose the children with the most nominations to be our school council representatives. We are all really happy that Evan, Alessia, Mia and Carter will be our school councillors this year and know they will do a great job representing our class.

I am also so pleased to see everyone working hard on TTRS this week, practising their Times Tables each evening! Keep up the hard work Chestnuts, you are doing great!

We have lots to look forward to next week, including our Marvellous Middle with the Theatre of Widdershins!
