Thurleigh Primary School & Nursery

Friday 8th October

The last two weeks have flown by in Chestnut Class, as we have been working hard and enjoying some really exciting things.

Last week, on Thursday, we had a visit from Sean Rose, a Gold Medal Paralympian. As a school, we took part in a sponsored exercise, which was hard work but so much fun! We also had a really inspiring assembly with Sean, in which he told us his story and shared with us the incredible things he has done since his accident. We were all really inspired by Sean's story and his positive mindset. We all left determined to dream big and do the things we love most!

We have also had lovely forest school sessions both last week and this week, in the woods. It has been fun getting wrapped up in our coats and putting on our wellies to enjoy the outdoors!

We have also been working really hard in Maths over the last two weeks, learning to add and subtract numbers using the written methods of column addition and subtraction. This was something that some of us found tricky to begin with but we have made great progress and are feeling confident using this method now! The children are continuing to impress me with their hard work and determination.

We are also working really hard on our reading comprehension in Chestnut Class at the moment, learning skills to help us infer and retrieve information from texts. We are also enjoying our Class Text, Stig of the Dump, during our shared reading sessions and are having great discussions about the story, which is supporting our writing progress.

It has also been lovely to have some super homework submitted already! Keep up the hard work Chestnuts!
