Friday 27th January 2023

We have had a wonderful start to Spring Term. The children have been working so incredibly hard and we are all enjoying our new topic, "Around the World in 80 days".

In Geography, we have been learning all about the Earth and how we can describe where different places are. We have learned about the 7 continents and 5 oceans, as well as the hemispheres, tropics, and polar regions. We are looking forward to learning about Europe next!

In Science, we are learning about living things and their habitats. So far, we have learned about the 7 life processes all living things carry out to survive. We can remember these with the acronym "MRS GREN". Next we will be looking at habitats and threats to these.

We are loving our new class book, which we read daily. It is called "The Explorer" and it is written by Katherine Rundall. It is so exciting, and we are learning so much about the Amazon rainforest at the same time!

In Maths, we have just started learning all about Fractions. This can be tricky, but Chestnut Class are working very hard and are doing brilliantly!

In English, we have written diary entries from the perspective of Tony, a young boy who goes on adventures with his Grandpa. We learned all about diaries and how to successfully write one, then we wrote one ourselves. Our outcomes were great! We are now pretending to be travel agents, writing persuasive travel brochures for a country of our choice in Europe!

In PE, we are learning all about the Brazilian Carnival Festival and we are learning about how Samba dance is used in the parades and celebrations.

Keep up the hard work Chestnut Class!
