We have had a super first week back in Chestnut Class this week!

On Monday, we spent some time getting to know each other. We all enjoyed learning new facts about each other and working together for different challenges. Our favourite part of the day was the Getting to know each other Kahoot quiz! We also enjoyed making parts of the human digestive system to go up on our classroom Topic Working Wall.

On Tuesday, we had our Stunning Start, which was a Digestion Day. We learned all about the Human Digestive System and even had a go at making poo, which we found disgusting but very fun! We also made scientific posters showing the different parts of the digestive system, the year 4s even included a description about what each part does. These look super as a first piece of work in our Topic Book.

We have been really enjoying our class book, Demon Dentist, this week and we are already up to Chapter 8! We are all so excited to continue reading a bit each day this term!

We have also completed our first piece of English writing. We had a visit from Miss Root, the Demon Dentist and completed a piece of writing describing her. This is going to be our first piece of writing to put up on our writing wall, so we can see how our writing improves and grows this year!

In Maths, we have been looking at Place Value in 3 and 4-digit numbers. We have enjoyed dice and card games to help us practise and learn place value! We have also enjoyed representing numbers using different resources like Base 10 and place value counters.

We also had an AMAZING day with Mrs Backhurst on Wednesday. We took part in whole school music day, which was all themed around the Lion King. We enjoyed learning and performing songs from the Broadway show and making masks, like the ones used in the stage production. We had so much fun!

As always, we had lots of fun in Forest School this week. The year 3s also met Madame Bentley, the French Teacher, and enjoyed their first lesson of French!

What a great first week of the new academic year, Chestnut Class. Keep up the hard work and positive attitudes!
