Friday 11th March 2022

Chestnut Class have worked so hard over the last two weeks and have enjoyed some very exciting things!

Last week, we had World Book Day. We all loved coming dressed as characters from our favourite books and sharing stories with other children in the school. We enjoyed reading to children in Willows and Oaks, as well as being read to by some of our friends in Ash. It was a fun-filled day!

Last week, we also started choreographing our dance for the creative arts festival. We will be dancing to a song called "Revolting Children" from Matilda the Musical. We worked really well together to create this dance and now just need to polish it ready to perform to our families in a couple of weeks. We are very excited for this.

Yesterday, we also took part in a Multi Sport Festival at Goldington Academy. Some of us competed in an Athletics tournament and some of us participated in a Score Ball tournament. It was great to see the children working together and showing our school values as they represented our school.

We have been working hard in Maths the past two weeks, learning all about fractions and equivalent fractions. We have enjoyed getting the manipulatives out to discover and explore this concept. It's tricky, but we are all trying our best and starting to get it!

In English, we have been drafting our BFG narratives. We have been working so hard and it is looking like we will have some super outcomes and fabulous stories. Miss Calvert is very excited to read our final drafts and see our writing progress!

We have been working on a few independent tasks too over the last couple of weeks. We have been learning all about sound in Science and we created a double page spread showing our understanding. In RE we have been learning about the Hindu Festival Holi, which will be celebrated next week. This is the festival of colour. We have enjoyed learning about what the festival is, who it is celebrated by, why it is celebrated and how. We have all created super posters, mini-books or pieces of writing all about this festival.

We are now halfway through the half term! Keep up the hard work Chestnuts - you are doing so well.
