Another week has whizzed by in Chestnut Class this week!

This week, we have been writing potion making poems, in the style of Roald Dahl. We read lots of Roald Dahl's poetry and identified the poetic devices he uses to create such funny and entertaining poems. We then generated a RUBRIC that would help us to be successful in creating our own potion making poems, in the style of Roald Dahl. We have really enjoyed drafting and writing our poems and have some super outcomes again! We are looking forward to doing performance poetry next week, learning to perform one of Roald Dahl's revolting rhymes!

We have also continued our States of Matter Science learning this week. We did an investigation on Wednesday, exploring how we can change the state of water. We learnt that heating water causes it to evaporate and become water vapor, which is a gas. We discovered that this can be reversed by cooling the gas so that it becomes a liquid. This is called condensation. We then learnt about the role evaporation and condensation play in our Water Cycle. We made up some actions and rhymes to help us remember the processes of evaporation, condensation, melting and freezing. We also made Water Cycle wheels which we can use to explain the stages of The Water Cycle.

In Maths this week, we have been continuing our learning about Measurement. We have been learning to add and subtract lengths and calculate the area and perimeter of 2D shapes. We have also been enjoying our "Fluency in Five" sessions, practising our Times Tables. We have learnt a fun song to help us remember our three times tables!

This week, we have also learnt about the Christian belief in Holy Trinity. This is the belief that there is 1 God who has 3 equal parts, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. We also found out about what Christians believe about The Holy Spirit and played a crack the code game to find out what the 9 fruits of the spirit are. These are the special qualities or gifts that The Holy Spirit gives people that help them to live a good life like Jesus.

Chestnut Class have worked so hard this week and should be really proud of themselves. One more week until a well-deserved week off!
