Thurleigh Primary School & Nursery

Friday 14th January 2022

This week in Forest School there was lots of exciting things available for the children to carry out in the winter sun.

The slack line was back but made more challenging for Chestnuts and Ash by it being longer (Both Ranger McLaughlin and I fell when trialling 😁) which over their time out in the woods some managed to conquer! Some carried out den building as seemed to enjoy the other activities available in the woods or were able to create their own activities. The blood bubble is back now with serious tools which the children were very mature about and followed our strict instructions which are in place to keep them safe.

We now have available bow saws, a billhook, knives, loppers, pruners which some children had the chance to use a selection. Most started off by making a gnome - a couple made a hedgehog and one made a twig spoon another a fox. All the children who did have a chance this week showed great respect and listened perfectly to all instructions. Ranger McLaughlin and I now know they are ready for this next step which makes us very happy. After everyone has had a chance to make something this will then be available for them to use to maybe make a peg for their den or to make something they would like to keep. A fabulous week, can't wait for next week.
