Friday 23rd September 2021

Hello everyone!

We have had another busy week in Chestnut Class this week!

On Tuesday, we celebrated the 100-year anniversary of the War Memorial in our village. We visited the church for a service and then took part in an Act of Remembrance at the memorial. Ash Class read some beautiful poems and we all took part in a one-minute silence, to remember those from our village who sadly died in the war. We felt lucky to have been involved in this special community event.

Chestnut Class have also been working really hard this week, in all of our lessons. They are continuing to wow us with all their effort, enthusiasm for learning and wonderful work.

In English, this week the children have been learning about fronted adverbials and how we can use these in our writing to add more detail. The children have produced some fantastic pieces of writing this week and it is great to see them applying what we have been learning in their work and responding to their targets and feedback!

We have also been enjoying reading our Class text, Stig of the Dump, during our shared reading and guided reading sessions. We have had some great discussions about the story in class.

The children are also really enjoying learning about Sikhism this term, in RE. Their discussions in lessons have been great as we have learnt about this religion and thought about how it is similar and different to the other religions we have learnt about during our time at school. It has been interesting to see how the teachings and beliefs of this religion are similar to our school values.

The children were also excited on Friday when their Homework Menu for Autumn Term was released on Seesaw! We can’t wait to see their home learning over the term!
