Welcome to our school

Welcome to Thurleigh Primary School

Part of the Kymbrook and Thurleigh Federation

A very warm welcome to Kymbrook and Thurleigh Federation — two friendly, nurturing, and vibrant village schools where children truly sit at the heart of everything we do. It is a privilege to lead two wonderful schools, where we share the same vision of, ‘Working in partnership with families to unlock the potential of every individual. Together, we nurture a self-belief and a lifelong passion for learning’; in a caring, stimulating environment in which every child can flourish.

In our Federation, we are proud of our ethos — a close, supportive community where every individual is valued, celebrated, and encouraged to thrive. Our children are curious, independent learners who love to explore new ideas and use their imaginations. They show determination and resilience when faced with challenges, and they treat one another with kindness, respect, and compassion.

We are delighted to offer a wealth of enriching opportunities, including weekly timetabled Forest School sessions. These sessions allow children to work collaboratively, build teamwork skills, and connect with nature as they develop confidence, independence, and a love of learning beyond the classroom.

Our dedicated and talented staff are passionate about providing the very best education and care for every child. They go above and beyond to ensure that all children achieve, feel a strong sense of belonging, and are supported to reach their full potential — personally, socially, and academically.

At Thurleigh, the school is maintained by the Local Authority and caters for the age range of 3-11 years. Our vibrant and welcoming Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) caters for Nursery and Reception children aged 3 to 5 years. Within our engaging free-flow environment, children learn and play together, supported by a dedicated team comprising a qualified teacher and experienced teaching assistants. We are delighted to offer nursery places from a child’s third birthday.

We are also very fortunate to enjoy strong links with our local community, including regular visits from the local clergy and active support from parents and friends of the schools.

Kymbrook Primary School is set in the idyllic village of Keysoe, within easy reach of Bedford and the surrounding villages of Bolnhurst, Colmworth, and Great and Little Staughton. Pupils travel to us from a wide area, including North Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, and Northamptonshire. Thurleigh Primary School is a thriving small rural school set in the heart of the beautiful village of Thurleigh. Conveniently located within easy reach of both Bedford and Rushden, our school welcomes children from a wide range of surrounding communities.

At Kymbrook, we cater for children aged 4–11 and are proud to have a Pre-School on site for children from 2 years old offering a seamless transition into Reception.

Both schools blend the charm of our original Victorian building with modern, well-equipped facilities, including large playing fields and spacious halls.

In our Federation, we believe education is about so much more than academic success. It’s about helping our children grow morally, spiritually, socially, and physically — giving them the skills, confidence, and curiosity to embrace the world ahead of them.

We look forward to welcoming you to one of our wonderful schools and sharing all that makes Kymbrook and Thurleigh such special places to learn, grow, and belong.

Warm regards,

Debonair Brown Executive Headteacher
