World Book Day & The Book People Visit

Read on to find out about this year's celebration of World Book Day and the upcoming visit from The Book People...

World Book Day

This year we will be celebrating Word Book Day on Friday 8th March. Children are welcome to come to school dressed as their favourite book character. We will start off the event with a parade to admire all the costumes. Following this the children will be involved in a variety of book related activities, paired reading, making books etc.

Any carer, mum, dad, granny or grandad who would like to come in to share their favourite children's book, is welcome to come in to read to the children from 2.45pm onwards. Please talk to your child's class teacher if you would like to take part.

Don't forget to look on the 'Gallery' page, following the event, for photos of the day.

The Book People Visit

On Wednesday 13th March we will be visited by The Book People Book Bus. The bus will be with us all day and every child will have the opportunity to visit the bus to look at, or buy, books. After school the bus will still be with us so that parent and carers are able to visit with their children, if they wish to do so. Each family should have received a leaflet with a sample of the sort of books which will be on sale.

If you would like your child to choose and purchase their books independently please send any money in a sealed envelope which is clearly marked with their name, 'The Book People' and the amount enclosed. Alternatively you will be able to pay for books, straight after school, directly to the book bus staff.

This is a fantastic opportunity for both the children and the school to benefit, as we will receive free books for our library as commission from their sales for that day.
